Taking a walk with nature has become a thing of the past. These days if you wish to breathe in fresh country air, the only available option is to carry a scented hand kerchief covering your nose and walk blind folded through the debris we leave behind when we are out. We have grown so tolerant to garbage and plastic everywhere that we fail to notice it as a concern.
“But man is a part of nature, and his war against nature is inevitably a war against himself.”
The quote reminds us that it is our foremost responsibility to conserve our planet and preserve its ecosystem. The Earth is dying a slow death in the hands of demons like Global warming and depletion of natural resources, leading to environmental degradation. This causes glaciers to melt, many natural disasters to occur and invites health disorders.
Hurricane Harvey and Irma caused havoc and sucked water and lives of many from the face of the earth showing us a glimpse of nature’s wrath. The increasing number of earthquakes around the world can only be the beginning of the end. Aren’t these enough to wake us up and shake our belief that we are safe?
The need of the hour is to be more conscious of the efforts that we take towards safeguarding our planet than being mere spectators of the anticipated apocalypse.
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”
At Empyrean, we believe that it is our moral responsibility to fight the plague of environmental degradation. Each one of us need to take small steps towards alleviation of our planet.
Budding artisans of Empyrean participated in a fun filled clay modelling activity, wherein they shaped ecofriendly Ganesha idols to promulgate the need to abandon the use of P.O.P Ganesha idols which cause a serious threat to our ecosystem. We are taking small measures to conciliate in this fight. We have also joined hands with the Isha Foundation in their endeavor towards saving the depleting rivers through their “Rally for Rivers” campaign. A seminar was conducted, where the children were apprised of the need of afforestation and measures to be taken to rejuvenate our country’s lifelines. The school is also working in collaboration with NDTV towards creating a “Better, Cleaner and Healthier India” through fund raisers and cleanliness drives.
We will continue to strive to create a greener world for our coming generations. Let’s make the world a better place for the entire human race.
